DOSS Fault - Doss Disconnected (D-Series)

DOSS Fault - Doss Disconnected (D-Series)

Notes
The DOSS is an opto-electronic system that counts pulses to determine the gate’s position and the distance required to reach its respective endstops.

Idea
Possible Causes of Error:
  • DOSS physically disconnected

  • Poor connection on the DOSS or controller side

  • Faulty harness

  • Faulty DOSS unit

  • Faulty controller

Info
 Possible Solutions:
  1. Check DOSS Connection:

    • Ensure the DOSS is firmly clipped into its carrier.

    • Verify that the harness is securely plugged in on both the DOSS and controller sides.

  2. Inspect Encoder Origin Plug:

    • Remove the plug from the PC board.

    • Inspect the plug and pins for any signs of corrosion or damage.

    • If everything looks fine, push the white plug back into place to ensure a solid connection with the controller.

  3. Check for Bad Connections or damage to the black DOSS harness :

    • Inspect the black DOSS harness for any damages:

  4. Replace Components if Necessary:

    • Replace the DOSS harness if faulty.

    • Replace the DOSS unit if it’s defective.

    • Replace the controller if it’s determined to be faulty.

However, we recommend first bringing the controller, DOSS harness, magnet switch, and DOSS sensor to your nearest CENTURION branch for testing to be able to finger point the component that needs to be replaced.

To reach the DOSS chip on a D5 EVO, you'll have to remove the cover of the motor. You'll find the DOSS positioned above the thumbwheel, directly in front of the red electronic motor.  For easy Identification, there is a warning sticker on the DOSS cylinder indicating "No oil allowed".
