How to Troubleshoot a Xtrac garage operator if Door Stops & Reverses Before Reaching Fully Closed Position - Troubleshooting

If your door stops and reverses before reaching the fully closed position, try the following steps to resolve the issue:

Possible causes: 
  1. Physical obstruction
  2. Incorrect spring balance or incorrect door balance
  3. Low obstruction force setting

Possible solutions: 

Disengage XTrac from door and check for obstructions:

  1. Find the red release cord or handle attached to the operator’s rail system.
  2. Pull the release cord or handle firmly. This will disengage the motor drive, allowing the door to move freely.
  3. Gently lift or slide the door to check for smooth movement.
  4. Examine the door tracks, rollers, and surrounding areas for any debris, misalignment, or damage.
  5. Remove any obstructions and ensure the path is clear.
  6. Re-Engage the Operator
  7. Once obstructions are cleared, pull the release cord again to re-engage the operator.
  8. Test the system by powering it back on and operating the door.
Disengage XTrac from door and check for correct spring balance:

Test the Door's Spring Balance
  1. Lift the door manually halfway and let go.
  2.  The door should stay in position without moving up or down.
  3. If the door falls or rises, the springs are incorrectly tensioned and require adjustment.
  4. If the door is unbalanced, contact a qualified technician to adjust the spring tension.
  5. Pull the release cord again until the mechanism clicks back into place.
  6. Working with springs can be dangerous. Always consult a professional if adjustments are needed.

Check for correct safety obstruction force adjustment settings:

Performing a Forced Learn for Sensitivity Adjustment:
  1. Hold down the “Learn” Button on the control board for three seconds.
  2. The LED Indicator will begin to flash rapidly, signaling the start of the learning process.
  3. Pulse the run button once and the operator will automatically begin moving the door.

  4. Opening Sensitivity:
  5. While the door is opening, locate the opening sensitivity adjustment pot (typically labeled on the control board).
  6. Slowly turn the pot clockwise to increase sensitivity, ensuring the motor does not falsely detect collisions.
  7. Closing Sensitivity:
  8. When the door is closing, locate the closing sensitivity adjustment pot.
  9. Slowly turn the pot clockwise to increase sensitivity, reducing the chance of unnecessary collision detection.
  10. Allow the door to complete five uninterrupted strokes (commencing from the closed position).
  11. Allow the motor to finish all five strokes without interruption.
  12. The LED Indicator will stop flashing rapidly once the learning process is complete..
